Editing.

We have uploaded all of our footage onto the computers and have edited part of the film but cutting shots and putting it all in to order and adding a couple of fades however now watching it back the pan around seems a bit jumpy as i found it hard to keep the shoot smooth going round as I could not reach the whole way round and therefore it is not as smooth as we would of liked it to be, now we are renting out the camera again to film this weekend the pan around again. I also plan to try and get the fuzzy noise from my TV as a background noise to add it on to the fuzzy screen shot.

Summary of Questionnaire.

I surveyed 5 under 18s and 3 over 18s as teenagers and young adults are seen as the main target audience's within horror films. This questionnaire showed me firstly the majority of participants wanted to find out the meaning at the end of the film, which I believe we have incorporated into our film as you know somethings gone wrong but you are not sure as to what. It also reveals that people usually liked the protagonist to be their age as they feel they can relate to them however people don't tend to think of children as they are innocent and don't understand what is going on and you feel the need to protect them making the storyline so twisted as nobody likes to see children hurt as they are typically seen as happy and vulnerable which even though is not what was wanted in the survey I still think it will go down well as it is typically horrible. The majority of people also said they liked the horrors as they scare them and the aim to our film is to give the audience that sense of insecurity.

Filming.

We finished filming today and therefore i started to think more in depth about what titles to include into our filming therefore i went on to the website 'the art of the title' and researched into horrors titles and 'the shining's opening sequence caught my eye as the shots shown were quite incredible and intrigued me as the shots shown are so peaceful and beautiful which is misconceiving and got me to think that I would like my titles instead of just popping up in the middle of the screen and taking over what is going on in the background i would like them to blend into the scene for instance having the title coming out of a kettles steam or places on one of the planks of wood part of the gate however still be obvious enough for people to know that they are there.

Filming Shots

This is a few shots taken of me films the park and kitchen.

Filming

yesterday (20th of jan) we started filming and had a bit of a dilemma at the start as the people who had used our camera before did not charge it therefore when we got to the location we only had a few minuets left on the camera so we did not get all of our filming done, however we finished all of it apart from adding in the beginning scene in which we still need to film and we should finish all the filming over the weekend so by monday hopefully we can start to edit.

Location Images

This is where we plan to have our park setting in which the main contents of the story will happen as here we will learn that the children are no missing and we plan to have one child on the swing and then the camera go fuzzy and have the swing still swinging with the child's toy been left and pan around the park whilst the rides are spinning as evidence of people have been there and it is now deserted.

Story board - 4

Here we have created the ending of the 2 minuets with the police man knocking on the door as we plan to create a blue light and flash it in the background of the door to create the illusion of a policeman being there signifying bad news. This would then lead on to the rest of the film being the chase to get to the children.

Story board - 3

Here we plan to have the gate swinging to show evidence that someone must of opened it for it to be swinging and I also believe it creates a mysterious atmosphere. I then think it would be a good idea to add on the titles onto the gates wooden planks and also flashing up on the kettle as it boiled on a close up and have it flickering up like a lightbulb which is going out. We were then thinking of a close up of the clock, showing the woman watching her clock showing she is obviously getting agitated about where her children are as she constantly is checking the time to see where they are. We then decided on a 'birds eye view' onto the table to shop the mother placing the children's meals down just waiting for them to come home, still holding belief and we will place the actors of the names of the children next to each of their plates.

Story board - 2

I plan to film my broken TV as to act as if the camera has been dropped or to represent something bad happening with the fuzzy black and white look which you get on old TV's. We then plan to pan around the park in which we are located to see all of the rides moving but no-one on it as if it has had the life sucked from it as their are no kids on them and we show the girl child has left her teddy on the seat of the swing to show people have been there but then the question is why has it been deserted? and we plan to include a child's nursery rhyme but slowed down and made more creep and as children's nursery rhymes are meant to be happy it puts a twist onto things.

Story board - 1

We plan to start it with pictures being up in the killers house of the park he plans to take the children from therefore you get the feeling he has been planning it, it then moves onto the children running through the gate happily playing games and towards the swings whilst the girl swings happily singing twinkle twinkle little star which we want to link in later on to the music whilst the boys run around playing aeroplane's being typical childhood games as its misconceiving as the children are seen as happy.

Narrative Structure

We plan to start off with having 3 children running into the park messing about and then it leads onto the park being shot with it being empty. The police then knock on the door and the mother learns how the children have been taken, they are then in a race against time to reach the children as it is not possible for all of them to survive even though you are tricked part way through the film into it seem that way, they unfortunately only regain one child back.

Titles - Horror

After looking at the titles in Juno I re-watched one of the horrors I posted earlier on from youtube. I decided to use the house of wax as to look into and this horror had no titles within the opening scene apart from the obvious one of 'house of wax' around 2 minuets in, however in my horror I want to be able to include titles in a creative manner and plan to research in to more horrors to see if its a repeative thing.

Titles

Today we explored the titles used within films. We used 'Juno' as to explore other genres as well as horror.
Time: Titles shown:
00:00 Autum
01:22 Fox searchlight picture presents
01:27 A mandate pictures - Me.Mudd productions
01:29 A Jason Reitman film
01:33 Juno
01:34-2:00 Actors names
I only included up to 2 minuets as this is how long our opening sequence will take however overall included were :
1 x costume designer
1 x music and songs
1 x music supervisors
1 x co producers
3 x film editors
1 x production designer
1 x director of photography
3 x executive producers
4 x producers
1 x written by...
1 x directed by...
This helps me as to what titles to prioritise within my opening sequence and which ones should be included as well as being in a creative manner.

Genre chosen : Horror

During class we dicussed different genres and how we could create them within our work. Then with our personal pairs we discussed which genres we would like to do, where me and Alison Wright chose the genre Horror and researched this genre and chose opening clips from youtube from Horror films we enjoyed and saw how they had chosen to start off there films and if there was a typical begining to a horror film. We then posted these opening clips on to our blogs to help guide us through producing our own opening clip.
